Rory McIlroy's golf ball winds up in lady's lap (No, he didn't actually have to play it from there)
Rory McIlroy found his golf ball in an unusual spot during Thursday's opening round of the DP World Tour Championship. And one fan went viral because of it.
McIlroy's drive on the 13th hole at the Jumeirah Golf Estates' Earth Course went long and into the crowd before somehow settling in one lady's lap. McIlroy made light of the situation, first pretending like he was going to play it as it lies before calling for a rules official. Have a look:
Of course, McIlroy didn't actually hit from there. Under the rules of golf, he was allowed a free drop, which he wisely chose to take.
Unfortunately, it didn't keep him from making a second consecutive bogey. But he did still shoot a one-under-par 71. And it did create a moment that fan surely won't forget for the rest of her life.
